This beautiful facility can easily
be considered one of the country's most important museums housing
the works of one of the century's most important artists. The

one block from the plaza, the IAIA Museum is an internationally
respected showcase for contemporary Native American, Alaska
Native, and Canadian First Nations art. With more than 4,000
sq. ft. of exhibition space and an expansive sculpture garden,
the IAIA Museum exhibits work from its 7,000 piece permanent
collection, and displays prominent touring exhibitions of Indigenous
art from North America and the Pacific.

Just off the Plaza in Santa Fe, the
Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) opened its doors in 1917 in order
to preserve and promote the art and artists of the Southwest.
The MFA houses a collection of paintings, photography, sculpture,
and works on paper which relate primarily to the American Southwest
of the 20th century.

Originally constructed in the early
17th century as Spain's seat of government for what is today
the American Southwest, the Palace of the Governors chronicles
the history of Santa Fe, as well as New Mexico and the region.
This adobe structure, now the state's history museum, was designated
a Registered National Historic Landmark in 1960 and an American
Treasure in 1999.
Located at the end of the Camino
Real in Santa Fe, the Santuario contains the Archdiocese of
Santa Fe's collection of New Mexican santos (carved images of
the saints), Italian Renaissance paintings, and Mexican baroque
paintings. Among the treasured works is Our Lady of Guadalupe,
one of the largest and finest oil paints of the Spanish Southwest,
dated 1783 and signed by Jose de Alzibar, one of Mexico's most
renowned painters.

The Museum of Indian Arts & Culture
in Santa Fe, New Mexico, tells the stories of the Native American
people of the Southwest from pre-historic through contemporary
times. Its changing exhibitions draw from an unparalleled collection
of Native American art and material culture representing the
Pueblo, Navajo, Apache, and other indigenous cultures of the
Southwest.

Florence Dibell Bartlett, Founder,
Museum of International Folk ArtThe Museum opened to the public
in 1953 and has gained national and international recognition
as the home to the worldOs largest collection of folk art. The
collection of more than 130,000 artifacts forms the basis for
exhibitions in four distinct wings: Bartlett, Girard, Hispanic
Heritage, and Neutrogena.
This wonderful children's museum
offers education and entertainment for families with interactive
programs and exhibits. Learning by doing is the theme with indoor
and outdoor areas.
The Spanish Colonial Arts Society
collections were initiated in 1928. Today with 3,000 objects,
the collections are the most comprehensive compilation of Spanish
Colonial art of their kind. Dating from the Middle Ages to the
New Millennium, the collections span centuries in art, place
and time. Among the various media featured are santos (painted
and sculpted images of saints,) textiles, tinwork, silverwork,
goldwork, ironwork, straw applique´, ceramics, furniture, books
and more. All combined, the collections represent the artistic
history and ongoing evolution of Hispano culture in New Mexico
while firmly establishing its important place within the global
arts landscape.
CCA pursues this course by making
available to the community the widest possible selection of
media produced by new and inquisitive voices and by attempting
to broadcast the insights and impulses of our community out
toward the world. Admission is free to exhibits. Admission charge
for selected events; films at CCA Cinematheque are discounted
for members, students, and seniors.
